Fr. Justin Hamilton is excited to be the newest priest on the block here at St. Joseph Parish! Growing up in Topeka with three sisters and two brothers, he was blessed to have been homeschooled by his parents through high school. His first year of college was at Allen Community College in Burlingame and from there transferred to Conception Seminary College in Conception, Missouri after being accepted as a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas in 2008. After graduating from Conception Seminary College with a major in philosophy, he continued my formation in preparation for the priesthood at University of St. Mary of the Lake (near Chicago) and graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 2017. That same year he was ordained a deacon and a priest and started out as an associate at Cure of Ars Parish in Leawood.
Fr. Justin loves celebrating the Sacraments, particularly the Mass and Reconciliation and is blessed to also be the chaplain at Bishop Miege High School. He feels that God has given him gifts to help young people grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and really enjoys walking with them, teaching them, and guiding them on that journey. That is what makes being part of a Catholic school so exciting; not only teaching, but instilling a deep love for all that is good, beautiful and true in the hearts and minds of students.
When he has free time, he particularly enjoys watching and playing soccer, indoor or outdoor. F.C. Barcelona and Manchester United F.C. are his two favorite team to cheer for. He also loves hiking, camping, reading (novels, sci-Fi, mystery, thriller) and taking in the sights while going for a run on a beautiful day.
