Mrs. Maddox graduated from Central Missouri University in 1995 with a BS in Special Education. She received her Masters in School Leadership from Benedictine College in 2009. Before beginning her career in administration, she was a Special Education teacher for Queen of the Holy Rosary - Wea and in the Blue Valley School District. In 2008 she was hired to be a Campus Minister and Theology teacher for St. James Academy. In 2010 she was named the Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction for St. James Academy, and in 2016 she was hired to be the founding Principal of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. She joined the St. Joseph Shawnee faculty as Principal in 2019.
She has always had a passion for helping others, whether you are a student or a teacher, meeting people where they are and helping them find success has always been important to her. She and her husband are active members of the St. Paul Parish in Olathe, Kansas. Outside of their careers they enjoy spending time with their two grown children, their two dogs, traveling, watching movies, and discovering local restaurants and attractions within the Kansas City area. They both find joy in their careers, and love serving and learning alongside the people they work with.
Mrs. Maddox considers working at a Catholic school a privilege, and understands the gift it is to be able to help form the entire child's mind, body, and soul. She subscribes to the teaching philosophy of St. John Bosco who said, "Education is a thing of the heart. During childhood and adolescence a student needs to experience personal relations with outstanding educators, what is taught has greater influence on the student's formation when placed in a context of personal involvement, genuine reciprocity, coherence of attitudes, lifestyle, and day-to-day behavior."
